Annual Halloween Celebration Offers Fun for Families and Kids

Community Invited to Oak Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Free “Trick or Treat” Party on Oct. 23

The community is invited to Oak Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for its annual “Trick-or-Treat” celebration. The free event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., inside of the skilled nursing facility at 827 Georges Station Rd., in Greensburg, Pa.  The Halloween-themed festivities will feature designated trick-or-treat areas throughout the facility, where both Oak Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center staff and residents—some dressed in costume—will be handing out candy to children.

In addition to trick-or-treating, families can enjoy a variety of fun activities including balloon art, a ring toss game, and several other engaging games and attractions. Light refreshments, Halloween themed cookies and a variety of chips, will also be available for children and their families to enjoy.  Kids and their families are encouraged to join the fun in costume while enjoying an event filled with Halloween spirit. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding costumes, recognizing creativity, effort, and festive spirit.

“We enjoy celebrating the fall season with our residents and families in the community,” said Amy Handwerk, administrator of Oak Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. “This annual event combines Halloween fun and community spirit, making it a special tradition for everyone. Each year, we look forward to welcoming local families and creating lasting memories.”  Everyone is encouraged to bring a bag, pillowcase, or pumpkin basket to collect treats. “Our staff looks forward to welcoming community members while decked out in their favorite costumes,” said Handwerk. “This event is part of our year-round tradition of community engagement. Our events range from our holiday light display in December to the spring Easter Egg Hunt and other seasonal activities, we’re proud to create opportunities that bring families together and strengthen community connections.”

Staff members will be throughout the decorated halls of Oak Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, handing out sweet treats to children in a safe, well-lit indoor setting. Both staff and residents will be participating as candy givers, and the skilled nursing facility will provide all treats and snacks free of charge. “It’s an additional opportunity for trick-or-treating, allowing kids to enjoy Halloween longer,” said Handwerk. “It's also a great way to show off costumes, and every year we see very creative ideas.”
